Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.
After my first find I was hooked. Soon I started contributing to the community by hiding my own in places of interest, which later evolved into a lot of tree climbs and puzzles. Geocaching provides different elements of fun for all types of people, and for me it provides the perfect intersection between exercise, exploration, and competitiveness.
It has taken me to beautiful areas that I wouldn't have normally visited, out on the water to kayak-accessible-only caches, and to hiking of the most extreme level. My favorite element of this game are the friendships that have formed with the local cache community and instant connection with visitors from out of town.
Check out my instagram feed below to see some of the interesting places and geocaches I've come across. Looking forward to future adventures and meeting new people along the way!

Try to make it out to an event! It's a great way to get started or to expand the game for you seasoned cachers.
